George Clark, Web Developer (that guy over there )

I hope my personal homepage finds you well.

This website is a home for my resume, a showcase of my personal projects, and practice fodder for my professional aspirations. I hated to leave the "Portfolio" field empty on job applications, so this was a long time coming!

Where I'm From

In the spring of 2020, I graduated from Dalhousie University with a degree in Applied Computer Science. I was awarded the Dalhousie University Medal, presented to the graduating student achieving the highest cumulative GPA in their class and major.

I originally attended Saint Mary's University, striving towards a Bachelor of Arts degree. I transferer to the business program before taking a computer science course on a whim. I loved the feeling of seeing something I created come to life and decided to pursue web development.

Where I'm At

I've been developing web applications for about 6 years now. Web development appeals to my creative desires- seeing a page grow rerender-by-rerender never gets old. I'm well entrenched in the Ruby on Rails framework, loving its clean, developer-friendly approach to writing software. As well, I've been shoring up on my front-end skills, starting with React, and plan on taking a course in design and user experience to really round myself out as a full-stack developer.

I have a delightful 4 year old cat named Rocket. When I'm not chasing her around my apartment or coding, I enjoy writing fantasy, reading, working out, doing crossword puzzles, and listening to music. I've seen Judas Priest twice and last summer fulfilled a life-long dream of seeing Metallica.

Where I'm Going

Who knows? Right now I'm focusing on learning as much as I can and enjoying the journey.

(To be honest, the only reason I included this section was to fulfil the "Where I'm From/At/Going" theme I have in my headings.)
